Ted Carroll
I have been working in IT for all my working life. I started out with a Masters Degree in Transport Planning and Engineering, and spent a few years working on traffic prediction modelling – using some of the first Control Data supercomputers. I then worked for software companies in the Document Management and Search markets. Since 2000, I have worked extensively as a consultant and supplier mostly within the UK Public Sector.
I have worked as a management consultant, developer, enterprise architect, programme manager and board director. I have carried out assignments in many government departments and non departmental public bodies in the UK, including:
- The Home Office
- Ministry of Defence
- National Policing Improvement Agency
- Essex County Council
- British Transport Police
- Welsh Government
- HMRC
- HM Prison Service
- ACPO
- Department of Transport
- Defra
- Competition Commission
- Foreign Office
I have worked on government procurement from both sides – as an advisor to government and I have bid for many projects in my career.
I like to keen my hand in on development and have written an open source package to “geocode” photo libraries (which is available on Git Hub).
